…the grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all change to silver glass…and then you see it…white shores… and beyond…the far green country under a swift sunrise.
Saw the movie a while ago. It was more than two hours long, but the funny thing is, I didn’t notice. I must say, kudos to the late, great Heath Ledger (I saw him first on "A Knight’s Tale" - and various other films after that). Definitely an Oscar-worthy performance. He redefined "The Joker" (sorry, but he seemed to have surpassed Jack Nicholson’s turn) - and comic book villains in general.
Too bad Rachel Dawes died (Maggie Gyllenhaal’s interpretation was far more superior than that of Katie Holmes). I am inspired to do another drawing featuring The Dark Knight (with captions from that rather touching farewell letter from Rachel).
Over all, a great (comic book) movie, with loads of action, social commentary and emotional resonance (something that tends to be missing in these kinds of films).
Can’t wait to see the latest Batman Film. It’s got a 91% rating at rottentomatoes. In other words, this one is almost perfect.
Almost everyone is raving about the late Heath Ledger’s performance as The Joker. Definitely Oscar-worthy they say.
Good thing they replaced Katie Holmes with Maggie Gyllenhaal.
Just seen "Wanted" (Angelina Jolie, James McAvoy, Thomas Kretschmann) yesterday. I liked it. Shades of the Empire Strikes Back..there’s a reverse "Luke, I am your father." moment.
Batman premiers July 18.
