Listening: “Sakasama no Chou” by Snow (Jigoku Shojo OP)

Reading: “Neverwhere”by Neil Gaiman; “Crime & Punishment” by Fyodor Dostoyevsky (a most interesting read, the characters all belong in the “sewers” of society)

Watching: “Jigoku Shojo” (Girl from Hell) & “Good Luck !!” (a J-Drama)

Now I know what will happen had I lived on an apartment the size of our house, alone. My mother wasn’t (and would not be) home for a few days. So, I managed to survive my first day “alone” (my aunt’s on the other house), by drinking unrefrigerated Sprite (not that this bothers me) and eating canned sausages - consumed about 3 (sans rice- as I do not quite trust my aunt’s er…cooking) and half a loaf of bread.

Currently watching “Jigoku Shojo” (Girl from Hell), so far I’ve finished about 10 (?) episodes. Been wanting to see this for quite sometime. Basically about vengeance and forgiveness (and as always, nothing is black and white). The title character, Enma Ai is an “avenging angel” (presently, you can summon her through a web site - w/c appears only, it seems, at midnight - although she has been around since before the Meiji Era), she will grant you your revenge (but there is a terrible price to be paid for acquiring her  “services”, as you are doomed to eternal pain and suffering - but that’s only after you die - as per “contract” ;)) To be frank, I found the first three episodes rather “dragging”, but my interest was piqued as I watch more episodes. This is a Horror anime, but don’t expect “monsters” and cheap thrills. Almost all the characters are suffering or have experienced some form of abuse or betrayal, some in the most terrible manner. It’s like reading Milton, Gothe, Hawthorne and Poe. The horror is more psychological than physical. Not for people without tolerance for long introspective scenes and conversations. The (freelance journalist) Shibata story arc is interesting, as he acts as a foil to Enma Ai (he is entirely convinced that Enma is not to be trusted - he goes to great lengths to stop people from “summoning” her - although his own daughter, Tsugumi has some strange connection to Enma).
